Ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 9)

A new report from Botanic Gardens Conservation International "Plants and Climate Change - a synthesis report" will be launched at this side event. The report highlights the fundamental importance of plants in supporting human livelihoods as well the role of plant diversity in both mitigating climate change impact and as the basis of adaptation responses. BGCI's new climate change programme, which provides a framework for action to conserve plant diversity in a changing world will also be described.
