Meeting
Ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 9)

For the Framework Programme of 2007-2013 the EU will dedicate €1.8 billion to research on the environment, with a further €1.8 billion dedicated to the development of research infrastructures. EU research projects are open to both EU and non-EU nationals and institutions. This event will present a series of biodiversity research initatives that benefit from this financial support: - ALARM: Assessing large-scale environmental risks for biodiversity; - DAISIE: A pan-European inventory of alien species; - LIFEWATCH: E-science and technology infrastructure for biodiversity; and - EFORWOOD: Tool for sustainability impact assessment of the European forestry-wood chain. An open discussion should explore the contribution made by these research projects to the implementation of the programmes of work of the CBD.
