Date and Time
20 May 2008 18:15 - 19:45

The side event will give an overview of the WIPO TK documentation toolkit project, providing an update and perspectives from diverse panelists involved with documentation projects in the field. It will cover strategies to ensure full and effective consultation as an aspect of prior informed consent, the role of customary law in documentation protocols and procedures, and the practical options available to ensure that documentation processes, and the knowledge once documented, continue to comply with the values, interests and objectives identified by the community itself. It will explore possible linkages with the work of the CBD on risk assessment in this area.
