Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

"Sato-umi" is a coastal zone where the livelihood of human-beings and the blessings of nature coexist in harmony with coastal area eco-systems. The objective of this side event is to promote a better understanding of the Sato-umi concept and of the significance of Sato-umi creation. Experts will outline the effectiveness of the Sato-umi concept for marine biodiversity conservation on a scientific basis, and will also describe local government efforts aimed at Sato-umi creation.
