This side event is jointly organised by the Secretariats of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). The objective of the Side Event is to obtain inputs from countries and, in particular, CBD National Focal Points, on the development of an online support tool that seeks to assist countries in their national reporting to the Convention. This informal consultation will seek to identify user needs and priority functionalities of such a tool within the context of the existing provision of open access to biodiversity data (currently over 2m records globally) and the existing functionalities of the GBIF informatics infrastructure.
