Meeting
Fourteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 14)

This information and brainstorm session will explore national and regional opportunities and needs in reporting on marine ecosystem health and outlooks to inform targeted marine policy development. Updates will be provided on the ongoing work under the United Nations to establish a legitimate and credible regular process for global reporting and assessment of the state of the marine environment, including socio-economic aspects, building on existing regional assessments and avoiding duplication of effort. An important topic of the side-event is to consider cost-effective means for assessing and reporting the status of marine biodiversity, key drivers of change, and their implications for ecosystem function and resilience to inform marine policies that ensure long-term delivery of marine ecosystem services to large populations. A panel of experts will provide background and moderate the discussion. Website
