This side-event will discuss alternatives and options to secure benefit sharing from access to genetic resources based on new developments in science and technology, including new taxonomic tools (iBOL), due consideration to the informational nature of genetic resources and the implication of this, and how benefits (both monetary and non monetary) can materialize on the basis of true facilitated acces and effective benefit distribution.
