Fifteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice

Challenges and hopes will be presented regarding restoration of the tsunami-damaged paddy fields in Tohoku, Japan; reclamation of oil sand mining areas; and rebuilding of ecosystems after oil spills. Based on its experience particularly in protected areas, Canada will highlight ingredients of success in restoration. In this context, participants in the side event will discuss the role of CBD. Speakers have unique hands-on experiences with various aspects of ecosystem restoration.
