Coastal and marine ecosystem provides considerable ecosystem services. Due to increased anthropogenic pressure and possible adverse impact of climate change conservation and sustainable utilization of these resources are of immense importance. Science based, people centric and process oriented interventions are needed to sustain the livelihoods of coastal communities. This side event being organised by MSSRF in partnership with IUCN and UNDP will deliberate on issues and challenges in these systems and provide policy guidelines based on the experience gained from the work carried out in partnership with the communities in the area of conservation, sustainable use and management of coastal and marine bioresources.
