Science Express - Biodiversity Special is a unique mobile exhibition spreading awareness, interest, and understanding on our varied eco-systems and biodiversity management practices. Basically the idea is to promote awareness on the need to conserve and sustainably use biological resources. This initiative could be easily replicated by other countries as a tool for promoting awareness on biodiversity. SEBS was flagged off from New Delhi on 5 June 2012, the World Environment Day and will halt at over 52 locations across India during 2012, covering a distance of about 18,000 Km. After receiving more than 1.3 million visitors at its 33 halts; SEBS is now arriving at the COP 11 on 9 October 2012. It will be stationed at Secunderabad till 19 October 2012 to coincide with the COP 11. Conceived as collaborative initiative of the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) and Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, the SEBS is coordinated by Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre (VASCSC). Centre for Environment Education (CEE), a Centre of Excellence of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, has developed and designed the exhibits, with inputs from a number of knowledge partners. This side event will serve as a trailer for the actual exhibition-on-wheels which remains open to one and all at Secunderabad railway station during the COP 11.
