The event will discuss successful non-market based approaches and incentive schemes to conserving biodiversity and related traditional knowledge, including the redirection of perverse incentives that promote unsustainable forms and levels of livestock and bioenergy production, and the development of positive incentives that promote ICCAs (territories and areas conserved by Indigenous peoples and local communities). Speakers will address a variety of issues regarding ICCAs, including the role of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans, connecting traditional knowledge with science, and developments regarding ICCAs since the 11th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity
