Twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity

The 'Biodiversity in Good Company' Initiative was one of the first initiatives worldwide organizing companies who are willing to commit themselves to the protection and sustainable use of biodiversity – a role model mentioned in CoP 10 Decision X/21 on Business Engagement. The initiative is a founding member of the CBD Global Platform for Business and Biodiversity and a member of the EU Business and Biodiversity Platform. In addition, it is a supporter of the German "Unternehmen Biologische Vielfalt 2020" ("Enterprise Biological Diversity 2020"), which was initiated by the Federal Environment Ministry and set up in spring 2013 as a dialogue and action platform for business federations, nature conservancy organizations and authorities. In this side event, ‘Biodiversity in Good Company’ would like to highlight a broad and interesting range of exemplary good business practices, ranging from direct biodiversity protection activities in the field to management mechanisms for accounting for natural capital. The focus is on brief presentations followed by a vivid discussion. The initiative is happy to follow up the debates after the conference, willing to contribute to strengthening dialogue and business awareness. The initiative will also participate in the CBD-CoP 12 Business Forum taking place from 12 till 14 October.
