Indigenous Peoples and Community Conserved Territories and Areas (ICCAs), spread throughout the world, have significant contributions to make in meeting all the 20 Aichi Targets. These contributions are not currently adequately understood and recognised. With appropriate legal and other kinds of backing, ICCAs could play an even more significant role in implementing the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity and the CBD in general.
