WGRI-5 recommended to establish a pilot phase for a voluntary peer review process to better understand opportunities and challenges for implementation of National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans which contribute to the Strate4gic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020. WGRI-5 requested the Executive Secretary to develop a proposal for the operation of the pilot phase and present this to CoP12 – see UNEP/CBD/COP/12/25/Add.3 and associated INF document. The side-event will describe the proposed process and allow interested Parties, and other stakeholders, to discuss possible improvements based on their national experience before the pilot starts in 2015.
