Date and Time
13 October 2014 13:15 - 14:45

Meeting

Our Pacific Voyage to protect and conserve our regions’ biodiversity is an ongoing one, as we navigate this journey we are learning and experiencing new moments and lessons which we wish to share and learn from others. The Pacific islands will showcase work done in the region on our voyage, under the theme ‘Natural Solutions for Island Resilience’. Our side event will be an opportunity to learn more about the Pacific Island Regional Framework for Nature Conservation and Protected Areas 2014 – 2020 which is aligned with the Aichi Biodiversity Targets. It will feature at this event as an example of a regional framework with ample opportunities to foster partnership and collaboration across key partners to support its implementation. During our Pacific Voyage we’ll also showcase work done at the national level through highlighting projects outcomes and results that contribute to the theme of Natural Solutions for Island Resilience. We’ll share the outcomes of Rapid Biodiversity Assessment Surveys and Ecosystem based Adaptation Projects undertaken in our islands. You can learn more about methods and approaches used; and the findings and outcomes and lessons learnt - this will also be an opportunity for us to seek input and advice from audience members to help enhance future work. We plan to end our event with a snapshot of the status of conservation in Oceania - we’ll share with you more about the current situation and the actions that need to be taken.
