Meeting
Twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity

Falconry is a worldwide traditional hunting art using trained birds of prey with a history of over 3,000 years. It is listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Recently, sustainable use of wildlife is being recognized as a way to help conserve biological diversity; sustainable use of wild raptors has beenat the core of the basic practice of falconry for millennia. This side-event provides an opportunity for a new and broader understanding of conservation activities by falconers and related organizations.
