Conservation of Cranes’ Wintering Habitat in Korean DMZ area as Ramsar Site with special link to North-east Asian Crane Flyway

Korean DMZ area has been important wintering habitat for many migratory waterbirds, especially it supports several hundred birds of White-naped Crane (Grus vipio) and Red-crowned Crane (Grus japonensis) in North-east Asia. This event is aims to seek how to promote these important sites as international protected area like Ramsar Site with good management practices. The event will be highlighted on the importance of wintering sites of Cranes in Korean DMZ area, the connection to other habitats in the region such as Anbyon in North Korea and of glocal cooperation among Cranes’ habitats along the North-east Asian Crane Flyway for conservation of the greater DMZ eco-region.
