Meeting
Nineteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice

The linkages between achieving better health and ensuring biodiversity conservation and well-functioning ecosytems are increasingly recognized. The implications of these linkages for various goals related to sustainable development and the consequences for natural resources, economic development, and social equity warrant further attention. Improved understanding of these linkages will enable the development of policies and instruments that realise synergies in efforts on disparate elements of sustainability. The side event aims to highlight the dynamics and nuances of such an approach and to call upon the scientific and policy communities to join hands in efforts being made in this direction such as the Lancet Commission on Planetary health and the State of Knowledge Review of Biodiversity and Health led by CBD and WHO.
