Civil society can significantly advance governmental agendas to help preserve the diversity of life and healthy ecosystems as essential components of stable and thriving economies. In this event, donor, governmental and NGO representatives will participate in a moderated, interactive discussion, including perspectives and case studies on the value of involving civil society in biodiversity conservation. Launched in 2000 as a new and different blueprint for conservation, CEPF has supported more than 550 nongovernmental partners in conserving Earth’s biodiversity hotspots in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The program’s investments build the capacity of local people to take part in decisions that affect their lives and livelihoods and, ultimately, our global environment.
