The BBI program is a component of the Program for Biosafety Systems (PBS). PBS, financially supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), addresses this need as part of a broader effort to support science-based decision-making and policy development. The Biotechnology and Biodiversity Interface (BBI) competitive grants component funds research aimed at addressing the effects of agricultural biotechnology, particularly transgenic organisms, on natural biodiversity in developing countries.
