AHTEG on indicators for the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020: selected experts, date & venue, and support processes

Dear Madam/Sir, Further to notification 2010-219, I am pleased to share with you the list of selected experts for the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group (AHTEG) on Indicators for the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020, as contained in the Annex to this notification. The selection, made in consultation with the Bureau of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA), was based on expertise, regional and gender balance, taking into account the modus operandi for SBSTTA and relevant guidance in decision X/7. The European Union has graciously provided the funding for the AHTEG meeting and eligible experts will be issued funding letters and proposed travel schedules shortly. The provisional agenda for the meeting and additional background information can be accessed from http://www.cbd.int/doc/?meeting=AHTEG-SP-IND-01. The AHTEG meeting will be held at the Uplands House Conference Centre in High Wycombe, United Kingdom (30 minutes from central London), from 20 to 24 June 2011. Please note that the AHTEG meeting will be held in conjunction with a larger expert meeting aimed at supporting the AHTEG in its work. This expert meeting will take place from 20-22 June and is enabled by financial contributions from Canada, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the European Environment Agency. Nominated experts who could not be selected for the AHTEG meeting may be invited to participate in that expert meeting by the organizers. All nominated experts, whether or not they are selected for the AHTEG or invited to the associated expert meeting, are also encouraged to participate in reviewing draft documentation prior to the meetings, as well as participating in the peer review of the meeting report. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
