Final Call for Nominations for the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity 2020

Dear Madam/Sir, The purpose of this notification is to encourage nominations for the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity 2020. The press release (https://www.cbd.int/doc/press/2019/pr-2019-11-27-MidoriPrize-en.pdf) circulated by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity on 27 November 2019 and the brochure (https://www.aeon.info/ef/attachments/prize/midori/midoriprize2020_Leaflet.pdf) of the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity 2020 provide information about the prize and the nomination procedure. Since 2010, the MIDORI Prize has honoured 16 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. Examples of their work range from the conservation of wild vicuñas in the Andean altiplano; the establishment of protected areas in Lebanon; promoting the linkages between science and policy in intergovernmental bodies; and raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity among global leaders. Information on the past winners is available at the following link: https://www.cbd.int/cooperation/midori. I encourage you to disseminate this call for nominations widely through your networks and to all relevant institutions and to nominate deserving candidates. Nominations will be accepted until 30 March 2020 through the website of the AEON Environmental Foundation at the following address: https://www.aeon.info/ef/en/prize.
