Dear Madam/Sir, Further to notification 2021-085 (https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2021/ntf-2021-085-sbstta24-sbi3-wg20203-en.pdf) on the resumed sessions of the twenty-fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-24), the third meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI-3) and the third meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (WG2020-3), scheduled to take place on 13-29 March 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland, the Secretariat, in collaboration with the SBSTTA Chair, the SBI Chair and the WG2020 Co-Chairs, as well as partner organizations, will host a series of webinars leading up to the resumed sessions, to update Parties and stakeholders on new documents, the organization of work and other aspects of the meetings, as needed. The Secretariat will be launching a webpage (https://www.cbd.int/article/pre-geneva-2022-webinars) to share and maintain updated information on the series of webinars. A preliminary list of webinars and tentative dates are included in the Annex. The webinars will be conducted in English only. The first webinar is planned for 13 January 2022 (a first session will be held at 8:00 a.m. EST and a second one at 6:00 p.m. EST, to accommodate participants in different time zones) and will focus on SBI agenda item 9 on options to enhance planning, reporting and review mechanisms (see CBD/SBI/3/CRP.5 (https://www.cbd.int/doc/c/6411/cf63/f7b0180ed5604a9628957446/sbi-03-crp-05-en.pdf)). To register for the webinar, please use the following link: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/rt/5495197907640884492. To facilitate the consideration of documents at the resumed SBI-3 session, and taking into account the limited time during the meetings arising from the heavy agenda, the SBI Chair will invite Parties and stakeholders to provide advanced comments on the four annexes mentioned in CBD/SBI/3/CRP.5 (These include: National Reporting under the Convention and its Protocols (CBD/SBI/3/11/Add.1/Amend.1); Draft guidance for updating or revising national biodiversity strategies and action plans in light of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework (CBD/SBI/3/11/Add.4); Modus Operandi of the open-ended forum of SBI for country-by-country review of implementation (CBD/SBI/3/11/Add.5); and Commitments from actors other than national governments in the context of an enhanced planning, monitoring, review and reporting mechanism (CBD/SBI/3/11/Add.6). See https://www.cbd.int/meetings/SBI-03) during the period 14 January to 25 February 2022. A template for comments will be made available online (updated information on this will be shared on the above-mentioned webpage, and at https://www.cbd.int/sbi/review.shtml). Additional information on the other webinars mentioned in the Annex will be posted on the webpage (https://www.cbd.int/article/pre-geneva-2022-webinars) as it becomes available.
