Extension of Deadline: Fifth Call for Proposals under the Bio-Bridge Initiative

Dear Sir or Madam,


Reference is made to notification 2024-001, issued on 3 January 2024, inviting developing country Parties and Parties with economies in transition, as well as relevant stakeholders, to submit proposals under the fifth round of technical and scientific cooperation projects under the Bio-Bridge Initiative (BBI). I wish to thank those that have already submitted proposals and invite those who have not yet done so, to send their submissions as soon as possible. Furthermore, I am pleased to inform you that the deadline for submission of proposals has been extended to 22 March 2024.


The criteria and procedure to be used in the selection process are available on the BBI website.  As noted in the selection criteria, the proposals must be aligned with the vision and mission of BBI and should, among other things, contribute to the following:

  1. Support countries in their efforts to achieve the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework targets as indicated in relevant National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans; 
  2. Seek to establish long-term cooperation between two or more countries on technical and scientific matters, including joint research and development of technical and scientific innovative solutions to address the key drivers of biodiversity loss; and
  3. Facilitate the transfer of technologies and/or exchange of specialized knowledge and know-how through institutional collaboration.


Relevant government institutions from developing country Parties and Parties with economies in transition, as well as major stakeholders, especially organizations representing indigenous peoples and local communities, women and youth, are invited to submit proposals by filling out the Seed Funding Proposal Form and sending it by e-mail to: before the extended deadline specified aboveImplementation of the selected projects is anticipated to start in the second half of 2024.
