A United Nations initiative, set to improve access for policy makers, journalists, researchers and the general public to environmental treaties was launched in September, in the margins of the 6th MEA-IKM Steering Committee Meeting. The Law and Environment Ontology (LEO) portal seeks to provide an overview of concepts, definitions and synonyms in conventions as well as the relationship between different Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). The CBD Secretariat, which has been involved for several years in the MEA Information and Knowledge Management (MEA-IKM) initiative, was represented by Kata Koppel and Olivier de Munck. |
