Submission of views and information on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework
General views and information submitted to the Secretariat on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework have been compiled. The submissions are included in the compilation in the form and language in which they have been submitted. The submissions are being made available in keeping with the overarching principles guiding the process for the preparation of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework as provided in the annex to decision 14/34, namely that the process should, among other things, be participatory, inclusive and transparent. The compilation and posting of a submission cannot be interpreted as an endorsement of the submission by the Secretariat. The compilation of submissions received in response to specific invitations is provided below.
Submission of written comments on the draft elements of a possible decision operationalizing the post-2020 global biodiversity framework
Through notification 2022-043 the Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity invited Parties, other Governments, and observers to provide written comments on document CBD/WG2020/4/L2 (Draft elements of a possible decision operationalizing the post-2020 global biodiversity framework). The comments received will be compiled and made available for the consideration of the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15). They will also be used in the preparation of a revision for document CBD/WG2020/4/L2, which will also be made available to COP 15. Comments should be submitted by 2 September 2022.

Submission of views and new information on policy approaches, options or modalities for digital sequence information on genetic resources
Through notification 2021-063, the Executive Secretary to the Convention on Biological Diversity invited Parties, other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, relevant stakeholders and organizations to submit views and new or additional approaches, options or modalities on how to address digital sequence information on genetic resources under the Convention and the Nagoya Protocol, based on but not limited to the information and elements contained in document CBD/WG2020/3/4 “Digital sequence information on genetic resources”.

Peer review comments on documents related to the scientific and technical information to support the review of the proposed goals and targets in the updated zero draft of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and an associated information document.
Through notification 2021-012 Parties and others were invited to participate in the peer review process of document CBD/SBSTTA/24/3/ADD2 providing scientific and technical information to support the review of the proposed goals and targets in the updated zero draft of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and an associated information document.

Peer review comments on a draft monitoring framework for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and associated documents for SBSTTA-24
Through notification 2020-045 Parties and others were invited to participate in the peer review process of a draft monitoring framework for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, an information document on the links between the Sustainable Development Goals and the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and an information document on indicators for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. Submission of views on possible targets, indicators and baselines for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework
Through notification 2019-108 Parties and others were invited to provide, by 3 February 2020, views on possible targets, indicators and baselines related to the drivers of biodiversity loss as well as on species conservation and the mainstreaming of biodiversity across sectors in relation to the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.

Submissions on the preparations for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework
Through notification 2019-008 a discussion document summarizing and analyzing the initial views of Parties and observers on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework was made available. A supporting document providing a comparative analysis of the initial views received was also prepared. Through the same notification Parties, other Governments,indigenous peoples and local communities, relevant international organizations, civil society organizations, women’s and youth organizations, private and financial sectors and other stakeholders were invited to provide further views on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework by 15 April 2019.
