This hybrid side-event will engage in an interactive conversation with all stakeholders across society and sectors to reflect on the approaches for transformative change in the implementation of the different GBF drafts. It will feature Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Marco Lambertini for WWF International,  Eva Zabey for Business for Nature, Ingrid Coetzee for ICLEI Cities Biodiversity Center, Mirna Inés Fernández Pradel for GYBN, Carolina Rodriguez for ICCA Consortium and Pauline Teillac-Deschamps for BIODEV2030 – Expertise France. It will thus give the floor to IPLCs, youth, local and subnational governments, private sector and finance and CBD parties to present their recipe for success and showcase strategic methodologies in building their capacity and driving transformative actions inside the CBD arena and beyond, where the world of biodiversity negotiations ends and policy implementation starts.

The side-event will be an ideal opportunity to take stock of the key transformative approaches identified through the Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework – EU Support over the past three years of negotiation and enrich them with fresh ideas from all stakeholders.This side event will facilitate the discussions as to the most efficient ways forward in fostering ownership of transformative policy measures, casting an inclusive, concrete look at the main challenges and avenues for progress. It will also provide an opportunity to collect specific capacity-building needs expressed by stakeholders. These findings will feed in the design of relevant capacity-building activities across the upcoming development of the Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework – EU Support .

The event will be moderated by Hugo Rivera Mendoza, Team Leader of the Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework - EU support.
