Japan Business and Biodiversity Partnership
The “Japan Business and Biodiversity Partnership” was established by the Nippon Keidanren (the Japan Business Federation), the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Keizai Doyukai (the Japanese Association of Corporate Executives) in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the IUCN Japan Project Office established. The “Japan Business and Biodiversity Partnership” was inaugurated during the CBD COP10 in October 2010. Partners, have access to a website and newsletters containing current information and examples of efforts by businesses in this area.
The “Japan Business and Biodiversity Partnership” is open to all businesses supporting the “Action Policy” and implementing or planning to implement at least one of the actions described therein. Economic associations that are willing to support these business actions are also welcome to join the Partnership. As a multi-stakeholder framework, the “Japan Business and Biodiversity Partnership” also seeks participation from NGOs, academia and local governments that are active in supporting business efforts toward biodiversity conservation. The progress of implementation by Partners is periodically evaluated through various measures such as a questionnaire survey.
