As part of the IDB2013 celebrations, the Republic of Nauru connected people towards their resources to explore and appreciate their biodiversity. The programme of activities included: canoe racing, weaving full traditional costume, weaving traditional/mixed cultural fans, weaving garlands, innovative plasticine modeling on terrestrial conservation site, youth marine campaign, infant schools drama on 'the importance of fruit trees', onsite stall display, etc., to name a few, and a free demonstration of an old chant.

The event was an initial success as the organisers managed to involve all age groups into the competitions.
