- Capacity building workshop for pilot countries on joint activities under the three Rio Conventions
- Development of a project proposal for each pilot countries on joint activities under the three Rio Conventions

(1) Preparation of workshop
- Time: April - July, 2011
- Operational Modality: Staff costs to cover the preparation of training material including on-line tools
- Japan Fund Allocation: $3,000 (Short term staff costs)
- Co-financing by SCBD Core budget: $2,500
- In-kind contributions from GEF, Conservation International, UNDP and the World Bank
- Other collaborators: WWF, TNC, GLISPA

(2) Convening of Capacity Building Workshop
- Time/Venue : August 2011, tbd
- Operational Modality: capacity building workshop to be convened by CBD Secretariat
- Japan Fund Allocation : $ 72,000 (meeting, including the travel of participants and SCBD Staff)
- Co-financing by Spain: $10,000 and EC: $20,000 (tbc)
- Other collaborators : GEF, World Bank, UNDP, CI, TNC, WWF

(3) Publication of Outcomes and Launch at Rio+20
- Time/Venue: June, 2012, Rio de Janiero, Brazil
- Operational Modality: Publication and dissemination of capacity building tools developed through the workshop
- Japan Fund Allocation: $ 2,000 (printing and shipping costs)
- Other collaborators : GEF, UN DESA
