| Targeted Outputs |
At its first meeting, the ICNP will discuss the following issues as listed in its draft work plan contained in Annex II of Decision X/1:
- The modalities of operation of the Access and Benefit-sharing Clearing House Mechanism;
- Measures to assist in capacity-building, capacity development and strengthening of human resources and institutional capacities in developing countries;
- Measures to raise awareness on the importance of genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge; and
-Procedures and mechanisms to promote compliance with the Protocol and address cases of non-compliance.
The Intergovernmental Committee will make recommendations on these issues for the first Meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol |
| Specific Activities |
The Japan Biodiversity Fund will contribute to covering the costs related to the organization and servicing of the ICNP meeting to be held in Montreal. Specifically, the funds will be used to cover the costs of the rental of rooms and equipment for the meeting, simultaneous interpretation in all 6 UN languages, as well as document reproduction and translation.
Additional funds to support the participation of developing country Parties in the meeting are being sought from other donor countries. |
