| Specific Activities |
The proposed activities of the GEF project include capacity-building workshops for National Focal Points and indigenous and local communities, briefing sessions for high ranking government officials and relevant UN bodies, and meetings with parliamentarians at national and regional levels. In addition, a component on the Nagoya Protocol is to be included in a series of workshops on National Biodiversity Strategies and Actions Plans (NBSAPs).
Specifically, the Japanese Biodiversity Fund is to complement the funds received by the GEF to cover the costs of the following activities:
- ABS workshops to be held back-to-back with both ICNP meetings and WG8J (3 in total) (includes: DSA for participants, room and equipment rental, simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Spanish)
- Briefings for parliamentarians and other decision makers (e.g. permanent representatives to the United Nations)
- The salary of a Programme Officer and Programme Assistant which will be carrying-out the planned activities
