Paragraphs 5-7 of Decision IX/12

Successful conclusion of 3 negotiation meetings of the Protocol on ABS:
- Resumed Session of the Ninth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Access and Benefit Sharing, Montreal, 8-16 July 2010;
- Resumed Session of the Ninth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Access and Benefit Sharing, Montreal, 17-21 September 2010; and
- Interregional Negotiating Group on the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Access and Benefit Sharing, Nagoya, Japan, 13-15 October 2010
The Conference of the Parties is meant to adopt an International Regime on Access and Benefit-sharing at its tenth meeting in accordance with decision IX/12. At the meetings, Parties will continue to negotiate the draft text of the Protocol on ABS for submission to the 10th Conference of the Parties.

The Japan Biodiversity Fund will contribute to financing the conference costs related to the resumed sessions of the Working Group and the participation of representatives from developing country Parties for all three meetings.
