Biodiversity Beat: Join the Conversation for Nature

Spotlighting contributions to the implementation of the Biodiversity Plan

Concept

Biodiversity Beat is a series of video interviews featuring a wide array of actors undertaking action in support of the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (the Biodiversity Plan).

Initiated by the CBD Secretariat, the Biodiversity Beat series has featured Parties to the Convention, institutions and individuals working on the implementation of the Convention.

Format

Biodiversity Beat can take multiple formats, including:

  • a one-on-one interview conducted by the CBD Secretariat’s Information Officer, David Ainsworth,
  • questions delivered off-camera from a member of the communications team and
  • other modes of sharing key persons' stories at an event.

The videos are recorded, edited and published by the CBD Secretariat.

Here is a playlist with the collection of Biodiversity Beat videos that have been produced by the CBD:

Date, time and venue

Biodiversity Beat videos are produced on the sidelines of major biodiversity-related meetings and events.

The next round will be produced from 11-30 May 2024 on the sidelines of the Twenty-sixth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 26) and the fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI 4) meetings in Nairobi, Kenya.

Nominate a speaker or self-nominate

Members of the media wishing to nominate speakers can do so by filling in this online form on a rolling basis. The CBD Secretariat’s team will consider the submissions and allocate speakers to the limited slots available. Due consideration will be given to the proposed theme and its relevance to the meeting/event where the Biodiversity Beat episodes will be recorded. The speakers should also come from diverse backgrounds and occupations, reflecting the whole-of-society approach that lies at the heart of the Biodiversity Plan.

Thank you for being part of the plan—the Biodiversity Plan.
