Date and Time
15 March 2006 13:15 - 15:0
The Centre for Integrated Research in Biosafety (INBI), formerly known as NZIGE, is a research centre of the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is an independent and transdisciplinary Centre engaged in assessing whether and how various products of biotechnology may pose risks to humans and the wider environment. An ongoing project of INBI is the Biosafety Assessment Tool (BAT). The BAT will be a free-to-the-public online resource, designed as a practical tool for the risk assessment of GMO applications for food, feed, medicine or environmental release, being developed with funding from NORAD in cooperation with the Norwegian Institute of Gene Ecology. The INBI side event will include a presentation of our progress on the BAT, and discussion of other capacity-building activities.
