Date and Time
12 February 2008 13:15 - 14:45
Meeting
Second meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Protected Areas (WGPA 2)
This event will feature a discussion among governments and support organisations of the potential of multi-country voluntary commitments to dramatically catalyze protected area conservation on a national and regional scale. Progress being made by the Micronesian Challenge will share the experience of how strong leadership grew behind this initiative, mechanisms that have put in place for effective governance and management of funds, and the impact on the ground and in the water. Similar voluntary initiatives in the Caribbean, Coral Triangle, and elsewhere will be discussed.
