INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP AND COLLABORATION IN ADDRESSING IMPACTS TO THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT

Organizer
World Ocean Council

Date and Time
22 February 2008 13:15 - 14:45

Meeting
Thirteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 13)

The World Ocean Council is creating the first global, inter-industry organization on ocean sustainability and stewardship. There are growing needs and opportunities for the diverse ocean business community (i.e. oil and gas, shipping, fisheries, cruise ship, ports, dredging, coastal tourism, etc) to address the challenges of operating responsibly and sustainably in the shared global marine environment. This side event will: 1) outline the efforts of the World Ocean Council to catalyze private sector leadership and collaboration in “Corporate Ocean Responsibility” and 2) seek ocean stakeholder input into these developments.
