Meeting
Fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (BS COP MOP 4)

To date, there has been little guidance on how to implement Article 26 of the Protocol, which encourages countries to take social and economic considerations into account when making decisions on genetically modified organisms. A joint IFPRI-Oxfam America project is producing new research on the social and economic impacts of biotech crops; advancing a solid, cost-effective methodology for accomplishing this research; and sharing the findings of the research among the Parties. Members of the national case study teams - representing Bolivia, Colombia, China, Honduras, India, and the Philippines - will present highlights of their field research in a forum discussion. This event will be a unique opportunity to interact with the project’s global stakeholders.
