Biofuels offer new opportunities for the expansion of genetically engineered plants and trees. Presentations will give an overview of current applications and R&D, ranging from herbicide tolerance and pesticide expression to plants with increased geographical ranges, altered photosynthesis, altered cellulose or reduced lignin. The new kinds of risk and the implications for biosafety regulation, liability & redress will be discussed.
