The side event will include a presentation of the conclusions and recommendations of the Second International Meeting of Academic Institutions and Organizations Involved in Biosafety Education and Training which was held 16-18 April 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This will be followed by a panel discussion on the key issues, opportunities and challenges to biosafety education and training. Participants will be invited to share their experiences and views regarding possible ways and means of advancing the development and/or expansion academically accredited training programmes in biosafety, particularly at postgraduate level.
