This presentation reveals several ways in which industry and political influences have compromised regulations of genetically modified foods, allowing dangerous products onto the market. Government scientists claimed they were offered bribes or threatened. Evidence was stolen. Government employees who complained were harassed, stripped of responsibilities, or fired.

Several industry-sponsored studies appear to be designed to avoid finding problems, while incriminating evidence was omitted or distorted.

New information will also be presented that implicates genetic engineering as the cause of a deadly epidemic in the 1980s, which killed about 100 Americans and caused 5-10,000 to fall seriously ill.

The information presented is relevant to a risk assessment of LMOs.

Presented by Jeffrey Smith, director of the Institute for Responsible Technology and author of the new book, Seeds of Deception: Exposing Industry and Government Lies about the Safety of the Genetically Engineered Foods You're Eating.
