The Centre for International Sustainable Development Law, in conjunction with the Secretariat to the Convention on Biological Diversity, is in the process of preparing a manual on 'Biosafety for Decision-Makers'. The manual is intended to serve as a practical resource tool for decision-makers implementing the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. The manual will examine four key considerations for decision-makers and examine them both in the context of the Biosafety Protocol and other relevant international agreements. The manual will also examine these considerations in the context of several country case studies.

The manual is currently in draft form and research is ongoing. The side event will introduce the manual and include commentary from members of the Advisory Council to the project. There will also be an opportunity for questions and comments from the audience that can help shape the content of the manual.
