Date and Time
1 January 0001 0:0 - 0:0

Meeting
Twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity

This side event will take the form of a debate between two very different perspectives on remote sensing: the new, exciting methodologies and possibilities of remote sensing versus the need for standard long-term remote sensing monitoring in the context of the Aichi Targets. Building on the CBD Technical Series 72 - Earth Observation for biodiversity monitoring: A review of current approaches and future opportunities for tracking progress towards the Aichi Biodiversity Targets, this event aims to stimulate discussion and thinking around the future of remote sensing for biodiversity monitoring. The event will follow a standard debate format with opening presentations from each side, audience questions and team exchanges, final remarks, and audience vote. Lunch will be provided.
