Presentation and discussion of the ‘Mountains to the Sea’ plan. The ‘Mountains to the Sea’ plan proposes a simple, integrated and cost-effective way to implement the CBD’s thematic programmes of work. The draft plan has condensed the six CBD thematic programmes of work into a simplified standard framework by identifying common areas of work and exploiting synergies. The proposal retains the basic goals, objectives and activities of each thematic programme so that the integrated, cross-biome plan maintains their integrity. The ‘Mountains to the Sea’ plan is aimed at assisting Parties to implement the Convention at the national level through the Ecosystem Approach and to help identify synergies and priorities at the international level.
