Meeting
Ad Hoc Open-ended Intersessional Working Group on Article 8(j) and related provisions of the Convention on Biological Diversity (WG8J 4)

It reports some creative ways in which documentation of ethnobotanical knowledge can be carried out without losing community ownership over intellectual property rights. It also presents the general findings of the documentation, current and future uses of the documented knowledge, and how this knowledge can become an enabling tool for development with a sense of community ownership and self-identity. A highlight of the presentation is a demonstration of stand alone software containing encrypted pictorial database of culturally relevant plants and rice found within the ancestral domain of the Subanen.
