Date and Time

The side-event will be a panel discussion where the results of the research undertaken under the CDA/FIELD project ‘Building legal and institutional capacity in Chile’, will be presented. Panelists will include CDA and FIELD project staff, a representative of the Chilean government, and a member of a Chilean civil society organization active on biosafety issues. The project was funded by the UK government's Darwin Initiative for the Survival of Species and its objectives were to raise awareness of biosafety issues and to build the Centre's institutional capacity to contribute to the development of a national regulatory framework on biosafety within Chile. The project produced research papers on the legal and institutional situation in Chile regarding biosafety, as well as on existing regional and international laws on biosafety.

For more information on the project, please see http://www.field.org.uk/biodiversity_pg8.php
