Fourth National Report

Assessing Progress Towards 2010

This information portal was designed in response to Decision VIII/14 to provide Parties with consolidated information resources and tools to assist with the preparation of the fourth national report. Information from the fourth national reports was used to measure progress towards the achievement of the 2010 Biodiversity Target, as well as contributed to the third edition of the Global Biodiversity Outlook. This portal also served to promote the 2010 Biodiversity Target assessment among CBD partners.

The fourth national reports were due 30 March 2009. When preparing their fourth national report, Parties are requested to provide information while focussing on the following:

outcomes and impacts of actions or measures taken to implement the Convention
success stories and case-studies, if any
major obstacles encountered in implementation
actions that need to be taken to enhance implementation

Workshop for European countries on the Fourth National Report was held in Budapest, Hungary, from 30 June to 2 July 2010
Workshop for Latin American and Caribbean Countries on the Fourth National Report was held in Panama City from 15 to 17 June 2010
Workshop for African Countries on the Fourth National Report was held in Nairobi from 31 May to 2 June 2010
Workshop for countries of Asia and the Horn of Africa on the Fourth National Report was held in Manama, Bahrain, from 12 to 15 April 2010
Workshop for countries of the Asia-Pacific region on the Fourth National Report was held in Apia, Samoa, from 19 to 22 April 2010
Workshop for the Caribbean and Central American countries on the fourth national report and the updating of the Strategic Plan for the post-2010 period was held in Panama City, from 7 to 10 December 2009.
