About the event
The CBD Secretariat held an information webinar on digital sequence information on genetic resources, convened by the Co-chairs of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (WG2020). At the fourth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (WG2020-4), the Informal Co-Chairs’ Advisory Group was to lead substantial work on digital sequence information (recommendation 4/2), which the Working Group will consider at its fifth meeting, in view of fulfilling its mandate to present a recommendation to the Conference of the Parties at its fifteenth meeting on how to address digital sequence information in the context of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.
This information webinar was held on Thursday, 3 November 2022, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (EDT, UTC-4) and on Friday 4 November, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (EDT, UTC-4), with a view to accommodating participants in different time zones. The webinar was intended to inform Parties and stakeholders about the official document on digital sequence information on genetic resources, CBD/WG2020/5/3, prepared by the Executive Secretary for the Working Group at its fifth meeting. Part of this document summarizes the co-leads’ report on the outcomes of the Informal Co-Chairs’ Advisory Group on digital sequence information on genetic resources, in particular its report CBD/WG2020/5/INF/1. A question-and-answer period followed the presentation of the official document.
