On the 21 and 22 May, the Canadian Museum of Nature is going green! To mark International Biodiversity Day, the glass tower at the front of the century old building will light up in green. On the 21 of May this special “greening” compliments “Science by Night”, a free public event to celebrate science and biodiversity. On the 22 of May the Queens’ Lantern will once again take on her green glow to highlight the importance of biodiversity during the after-hours event, Nature Nocturne. Don't miss it!


  Ontario Biodiversity Summit, Protecting What Sustains Us
The 2015 Ontario Biodiversity Summit Protecting What Sustains Us is a first of a kind in Ontario. Organized around the themes of “Engaging People”, “Reducing Threats”, “Enhancing Resilience”, and, “Improving Action”, the goal of the Summit is to stimulate discussion and take actions to help us find our path forwards to protect what sustains us.

Highlights include: State of Ontario’s Biodiversity Report 2015 release; international speakers; interactive panel discussions; workshops and expert sessions. There is also a Young Leaders for Biodiversity (18 – 30) stream and field trips and activities to celebrate International Biodiversity Day

Please join the Ontario Biodiversity Council this May in Niagara Falls - we all can, and should, take actions to stop the loss of Biodiversity.

On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity, the Secretariat of the CBD participates in the Montreal Museums Day at the Redpath Museum (McGill).

From the smallest microbes to the largest of land mammals, man's best friend to the most terrifying hunters, beasts of burden to birds in joyous flight: explore with us some musical wonders of the natural world. The concert takes place at 3pm at the Mountainside United Church.

  • GVDRD Nord-Sud est en partenariat avec la Maison de quartier secteur Jean-Nicolet, l'Office Municipale d'habitation des Trois-Rivières et la Maison des Jeunes secteur Jean-Nicolet pour célébrer la journée internationale pour la diversité biologique.

L'équipe des bénévoles est mobilisée pour le 15 mai de 9h à 14h afin de procéder au nettoyage du quartier HLM secteur Jean-Nicolet à Trois-Rivières. L'activité est intitulée "Quartiers HLM assainis" dans le but de sensibiliser les habitants à la journée internationale du 22 mai pour la biodiversité.

  • Le 22 mai de 10h-11h, à l'école secondaire Chaviny de Trois-Rivières. L'organisme tiendra une séance d'échange et d'information sur: "la biodiversité et le rôle de la jeunesse pour la décennie 2011-2020

  • Le 30 mai, GVDRD Nord-Sud organise une soirée buffet bénéfique ouvert à tous, à Trois-Rivières, en faveur des écoles défavorisées dans les villages isolés au Congo et les enfants des quartiers pauvres HLM en Mauricie.

Remise du prix Henry-Teuscher et inauguration des Jardins d'accueil restaurés au Jardin botanique de Montréal

Dans le cadre de la 18e édition du Rendez-vous horticole, Monsieur Charles-Mathieu Brunelle, Directeur d’Espace pour la vie, et Monsieur René Pronovost, Directeur du Jardin botanique par intérim, vous convient à un événement spécial rendant hommage en deux temps à la mémoire d'Henry Teuscher, architecte-paysagiste à l'origine du Jardin botanique.

Tout d'abord, le prix Henry-Teuscher honorera Claude Vallée, agronome, enseignant et communicateur reconnu par l'industrie horticole. Monsieur Vallée, instigateur de plusieurs projets novateurs, est notamment connu pour la création des « Exceptionnelles® », un programme unique au Québec réputé pour sa sélection de nouveautés horticoles.

Ensuite, l'inauguration des Jardins d'accueil restaurés du Jardin botanique vous permettra de redécouvrir l’entrée prestigieuse du Jardin botanique, à l’image des plans d’aménagement d'Henry Teuscher de 1937.

Salmonier Nature Park, MUN's Ocean Sciences Centre, the Fluvarium and more join the Botanical Garden in offering a full day of programs, activities and nature hikes which explore the province's unique biodiversity. The program is free, suitable for families of all ages.
