Peer review of the draft Regional Report for Africa on Pollinators and Pollination and Food Production
Dear Madam/Sir, In recommendation XX/9 the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical, and Technological Advice welcomed the Summary for Policymakers of the thematic assessment on pollinators, pollination and food production approved by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) at its fourth session, in Kuala Lumpur, on 26 February 2016, as well as the full assessment report that was accepted by the Plenary. In the same recommendation the Subsidiary Body requested the Executive Secretary, in cooperation with IPBES and the Food and Agriculture (FAO) Organization of the United Nations to prepare a regional report for Africa on pollinators and pollination, drawing upon the thematic assessment and relevant work under the International Pollinators Initiative, and to make the findings available for peer review prior to the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties. In response to the request above, I am pleased to inform you that the Secretariat, in collaboration with IPBES and FAO, is making a draft of the Regional Report for Africa on Pollinators and Pollination and Food Production available for peer review. Please note that the draft of the report does not currently contain references however these will be added as the document is finalized. The draft of the report, as well as a template for providing peer review comments is available from https://www.cbd.int/cop13/review/default.shtml. Review comments should be sent to the Secretariat by e-mail (secretariat@cbd.int) by 13 November 2016 in order for the document to be finalized and made available for consideration during the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
